Getting here:

  • By Plane: Excellent link via the train (Pomeranian Metropolitan railway) outside the Arrivals. Jump on this train to Gdynia Glowna! Or by Taxi, about 30 minutes.
  • By Train: Gdynia Glowna – walk is about 10 minutes to the hostel, please see the map below.
  • By Taxi: Cost around 10 PLN from directly outside the Train station.

Gdynia

While it lacks the 1,000 year history of its better known neighbour, Gdynia is a wonderful example of a 20th century city with its construction covering the Art Deco period of the 20s and 30s, the Socialist era of post-war Europe and the modern designs of the post-communist Poland. The city can offer beautiful beaches and walks, some of the best restaurants and nightlife in the Tri-city.

For those of you who like something a little more active, Gdynia offers excellent conditions for various sports. In recent years, many Extreme sports clubs have been established in Gdynia – hand-gliding, ballooning, scuba diving, even winter sea-bathing in ice-cold water! However, most activities are connected with the water and the wind as they are typical natural elements of Gdynia, sailing and windsurfing being the most popular.

Owing to its location amongst the seven hills and beautiful forested trails, Gdynia is attractive for cycling – mountain cycling in particular, it also has some fantastic cycle lanes from which you can explore the whole of the Tr-City area on 2 wheels.

Swimming pools, tennis courts, playing fields, sports halls, a skating rink, fitness clubs, canoes, fitness trails, beach volleyball and more recently a golf driving range are all within close proximity.
